Warmer Water: More Revenue From Brick Beaches?

The crowds at Brick Beach 1 grew steadily throughout the day yesterday, and township officials are hoping that is a good sign for beach revenue and local business revenue.

Dan Santaniello, who serves as deputy director of Brick's Parks and Recreation, said that a recent change in the wind has warmed the ocean water into the 70s, and crowds yesterday were certainly enjoying the warmer ocean temperatures, as the video above demonstrates.

Santaniello noted that crowds have been lighter this year than in year's past - which he attributed to people's concerns over potential Sandy damage and a lack of knowledge that the beaches are now open.

But many at the beach yesterday remarked how pleased they were and how clean the beaches were, and commented what a relief it was to beat the heat at the Shore.
