Largest Animal Shelter System In New Jersey Needs Help With Record Number Of Animals

The passionate animal supporters at the Associated Humane Societies, which has shelters in Newark, Tinton Falls, and Forked River, have paired up with YouGiveGoods this summer in support of the astounding number of animals that come to them every day in dire need of food, shelter, and love.

AHS strongly believes in doing everything that they can for these animals and in spreading the word about animal welfare. While they may find happy homes for three or four dogs per day, six more may come in that same day, and they are never fully stocked when it comes to food and supplies for the animals in their care. The AHS and their amazing supporters plan to raise as much food and supplies as they can for the cats and dogs who call the AHS their temporary home. The AHS also runs The Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River, home to a wide array of animals such as birds, turtles, snakes, horses, deer, camels, and even lions, tigers and bears.
Debbie Beyfuss is the Executive Assistant at the Newark AHS, the largest location of the three with over 200 dogs, 170 cats and smaller animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets. Debbie says that they are overwhelmed by the support they have seen so far through their Online Shelter Drive with YouGiveGoods. “We are pretty much always in need of food for the animals, cleaning supplies, blankets and towels, etc. We started a drive with YouGiveGoods, sent out an e-mail blast, put the information on a couple of our different Facebook pages, and everybody started sharing the information and really getting it out there. This has been amazing. We have only been at this a couple of days and we have already raised over $2,500 worth of goods. We so very much appreciate it.”
According to YouGiveGoods CEO, Patrick O’Neill, “AHS has a terrific support community spread over a large area – both here in New Jersey and outside the state. Using our website to run an online drive is a great way for them to make it easy for their supporters to help them, wherever they are located.”

Anyone can get involved with the cause that Debbie and her team of animal lovers at AHS is supporting by clicking here. Items can be purchased online to donate to the Drive. Once the drive is over on June 28, 2013, YouGiveGoods will deliver the items to AHS and supporters will receive an e-mail to let them know when the goods have been delivered.
