Hi Sal,
I just stumbled accross something you wrote while I was browsing. I found it to be very profound and true.
"Not to be confused with the "Sal" who posted above, I believe that we are reaping the "harvest" of the '60's generation which fostered the "if it feels good, do it" philosophy. That generation are now parents and grandparents who have raised their kids differently than us of previous generations. Many young people today have no respect for the law, teachers or their own parents. And it shows in their behavior on the streets, in the classrooms and on the road. Many act without responsibility or remorse for their actions or bad behavior because they have no fear of any consequences. Adults and society in general have lost control. There was a time when children behaved because they feared the consequences of punishment by parents or the law, but now so many scoff at both. The breakdown of the family unit has also taken its toll since many kids grow up without a father figure or strong maternal presence to exercise authority. So many kids have their own little worlds, e.g. video games, TV's in their bedrooms, cell phones, etc. How many families still have dinner together? Or watch TV together ? Or, perish the thought, go to religious services together? America is in moral decline. And we wonder what has happened to our kids and why we have bullies!"
Bravo!
