The truth?  I don't really like to exercise.  I know someone who owns a fitness center shouldn’t admit to that but "it is what it is".  It took me a long time to find an exercise program that I enjoyed, saw results from and could stick with and I’m so thankful that I did; it's called Jazzercise.

I found Jazzercise 17 years ago and have been doing it ever since.  You could say it's my passion!

I first found Jazzercise approximately 6 months after my daughter was born almost 18 years ago.  I had gained 60 lbs. during my pregnancy and was still carrying around 30 lbs. of it by the time my daughter was six months old.  I knew I needed to lose the weight but wasn’t quite sure how I was going to go about losing it; I did know, however, that diet and exercise were both big parts of the equation.

Jazzercise classes were offered at the local community center near where I lived in Philadelphia.  Although I didn’t know what Jazzercise was I decided to give it a try.  I was hooked from my very first class, so much so, that I had someone watch my daughter so I could get to classes as the classes were held earlier than when my husband got home from work.

By following a healthy diet and Jazzercising regularly (3 times/week) I lost those 30 lbs., plus some, by my daughter’s 1st birthday!

I loved Jazzercise so much that I inquired about becoming an Instructor.  I found out that all Instructors must be certified and own their own franchises.  I thought this was great as I always wanted to own my own business and thought if I became a Jazzercise Instructor I'd most definitely continue to exercise regularly.

I was accepted into and entered the training program and as they say, “the rest is history”.

Fast forward a few years later and we transferred here to the Jersey Shore.  I had a repeat performance of my weight gain with my son who is now 13 years old.  I knew however, exactly what I needed to do to lose the weight and sure enough between eating healthfully and Jazzercise, the weight almost seemed like it melted off.

I am very lucky and thankful to have the Jazzercise business that I do.  My business has consistently ranked in the top 10 of Jazzercise franchises in my district which consists of NJ, DE and Northeastern MD and I've made many, many friends over the years as well.

My success is due in BIG part to my wonderful staff of Instructors, Class Managers and Babysitters who keep things running day in and day out.

The Instructors teach fun, dynamic, effective classes, the Class Managers meet and greet members and keep things running smoothly behind the desk and the Babysitters make sure the kiddies are safe and happy in our “Kidz Zone”.

And, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank our amazing members.  Jazzercise, in general, attracts a really nice clientele and my business is no different.

I absolutely love what I do as I get to help people become and stay fit while motivating them along their journey.  I actually think of Jazzercise as “recess for adults”.

Our group fitness class offer a fun and effective total body workout that includes a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and Latin-style movements set to popular music.  There's truly something for everyone!

What I also love is that we’re not cliquey which is something that’s very important to me.  One comment I hear over and over again from my members is that my Jazzercise center is their “happy place”.  That’s a great thing to hear because if people enjoy what they’re doing they’re more likely to stick with it which is a win/win for everyone.

I’ve been told that my love for Jazzercise is apparent – I hope that continues for many more years.

I also enjoy giving back to the community that has been so supportive of my business over the years.  To that end, I have had the honor and privilege of being the Chairperson for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Wall Twp. for the past eight years. Through my involvement with Relay for Life I have become more compassionate than I ever could have imagined, I’ve met some absolutely wonderful people along the way and have helped to raise thousands and thousands of dollars for cancer research, support and education.

If anything I’ve written here inspires you to get up and moving I strongly encourage you to do just that and hope you find your passion along the way just like I did!
