With all due respect here, I wrote what was written based on the original article on the robbery, which was based on information provided by the police. That article is linked in through the highlighted text in my article.
That said, I have deleted the offending word. -

The bottom line, Mr. Harris, is you have no facts to back up your claim that those with autism are more violent because it's simply not true. You just keep trying to change what you said to fit your anger. Your anger doesn't make your claims any more accurate.

John, you are wrong about autism. I know several people who have children who have been classified as autistic and those children -- including my niece -- are not violent. None of them. Not sure where you are getting your information, but it is incorrect.

John J. Harris, autism is not a mental illness. Please take some time to educate yourself on the issue. Those who have been diagnosed with autism are far more likely to be bullied than to ever be violent.

ReplyVinny, part of the reason we're continuing to see flooding is because things are so damaged and so much beachfront was eroded. There also is an enormous amount of debris in the bay and lagoons, from what I've heard. That means the water level is sitting higher to begin with.

green, I'm not sure how you define "big story" but I remember that incident and it was plastered all over the front of the Asbury Park Press and was on the NY TV news reports that night. APP's online archives don't go back to 1990 but I'm sure if you go to the Ocean County library and look in their archives you'd find it.

Sal, your comment about those with autism and Aspberger's is out of line. Autism is not a mental illness. There are millions of people who have been diagnosed as autistic who are not threats in any way.

Sarah and Chief: If you are going to criticize Mr. Jones, I think you both need to stop doing it anonymously. It's very easy to hide behind a screen name and accuse someone of milking the system. It's another to stand behind your comments with your real name.
This article is about Mr. Jones' fight with Ocean County. Whether or not his wife is employed is irrelevant to the fight over the disability pension and the workers comp case. It is easy to sit and question and make snide comments when you haven't seen the documentation. I have. Pages and pages of it.
