ReplyThere was a guy in his 50's running around brick - name began with an R?( I don't want to say the wrong name here - but, we did know that it began with an R ) I think? He bragged at the local bars - that he was hooking the flood cars all over Brick and Toms River - how he sold them at auctions and dealers for $5000.00 each. ( He sold 100's of cars) I guess when someone makes big bucks, no one cares how they do it.. As long as they look good on paper.. And to their family and friends.. Status quoe.. I guess.. Yet, we can argue.. He's a wholeseller.. He buys in bulk to resale. He got paid by the insurance company to do a job. He bought and sold in bulk. Perhaps it was the car dealers choice to clean them and resell them? Who's a wrong or fault here ? Or is it just business only as a wholeseller?

ReplyYou should see the new inventory of cars on rt 9, rt 88 and rt 37.. All these dealers out to make a quick buck. They buy the flood cars at auction, transfer the title around - by the time you see it ( car fax) - everything looks good.. Until months later you find you that you got scammed ! Car dealers don't sell cars- they sell you what you can afford at the time. Car dealers know that buyers are payment shoppers only. Car dealers are banking on that you are less educated to understand what your buying due to your credit and down payment. Car dealers will as ways sell you the "what if" talk.. To hook a payment for the next 4-6years. Once your a buyer - your gone, anything else,, it's 5-20K with Attorny fees.. Maybe you'll win? Maybe you won't? Are you educated, have job stability of 5+yrs. and a credit score over 750? Your profile has everything to do with the case.. Isn't that how the car dealer - "hooked you in the first place?"

ReplyI see people still living in their shacks in Brick - almost 7 months. They haven't spent a dime - because they have No money for repairs, Unemployed or Self employed with No income. Yet, they will live in deplorable conditions. These people need to wake up and leave now.. Eventually- the bank Will take your land and get the blue acre settlement. Or - you can begin the process now - and still have time to save your money and go. You can't fix a Battleships hull that was badly dammage - with Duct tape and expect to win a war. Save your money and begin a new life of quality and value. Your pride will only hurt you in the end if you don't make a smart move today. Reality will hit you, it's only a matter of when? The next storm is to hit late Sept. NOAA - estimates 5 big storms this year to hit NJ coast at a 30-40% - one may hit for sure. Will your insurance company pay then - if you never made repairs or Never raised your home in time? Good question to ask?

ReplyTake the money and run!!! This is your one and only chance to get out !!! You would be foolish to wait around.. Your Mortgage Company does not care about you ! Your home owneners ins. Does not care about you ! If you are living day to day - thinking that the banks are going to work with you - then you are on more crack than what they sell in lakewood. Take the money and RUN,, or deal with the fact, someone with more money can fix their homes. You are out of money - what are you waiting for ? To hit the Megga or Power Ball ? Do you want to live with stress for another 5-10years..? But wait, another storm is comming - when the flood returns - you will see people run then- after they spent $1000's in repairs.

ReplyFEMA, came to Brick, with their entourage of people, they came in with their tour bus, they opened up a center here in Brick. Yet, what did they do.? they took all your info, offered you a SBA loan, knowing that you would not be approved by the federal standards. Government programs profile your income to ratios. Real people who live day to day, paycheck to pay check - here in Ocean county - have to budget their life - [ single, married, divorced ]; not by what's dictated by a plan.
Again, This is NJ, their FEMA people were quite confused of how difficult that it really is here in NJ. All they could offer is "Boots on the Ground" and gone...?
If your Not from NJ, please do not try to offer services here unless you live here, work here, been here since the storm.
Anything less, your an out of towner trying to make and push a buck for your own profit. It's sad to hear about these programs to save and help others, yet cant get quick results for others. People need real help, a direction, someone that he or she can talk to, someone who they can relate to, someone whose had difficulties and herd decisions. That's who we want to talk to to offer help and guidance.
Hence, that's why organizations like SaveourCommunities2013 and STOPFEMAnow both a grass roots movement groups that are by the people for the people. Not an outside company with a lot of "WhooRah".. ran by out of state minded people who can not relate to others. -

ReplyI just have to speculate on all of this- I have to play the What If card. 2 years into the future if everything fails: your 2000sqrf home- Taxes $8500.00 flood insurance $12,000.00 a year. total: $20,500.00 divide that by 12 months = $1709.00 a month. That's how much you will need to pay each month, until the next year or two later if there's another tax increase by $120.00 a quarter. People will be looking to sell off their homes asap. if they are lucky. Others who are trapped, may fall into walking away from their homes, foreclosing, and then bankruptcy.
This is NJ, unlike other states,The Rules do not apply here. What happens in California,Florida,Texas, anywhere else. NJ is one of the hardest states to live, to work and to survive in. If your not from here, you will not understand what it is to survive here. A single person has it the hardest, if he or she is in their 40's or 50, who suffered a life change and now are dealing with this, no one would understand. As a married couple, who works together, may have that fighting chance - only if they continue to work together. If your over 60, you are frighten, of where to go, what to do, how to live.? you need a plan. That's, where I'm going with all of this, you need to make several plans for the next 2-5 even 10 years.
We see all these outside company's flooding NJ to offer Hope- help, while riding the Federal funding-with outsiders that all they can do is advise. They learn real fast - how things are in NJ. -

Art, I hear you..
That's why I said yesterday, The Brick Republican Club made a huge mistake in their candidates. They only now have Sangiovanni and Brando. (good guys in my book)
while the joke of the matter is - Toth - is a Club member [which side]; and he is off and running on his own.? what does that say about the "Club"?In stead of working together - everyone is working against one another?
What a mess. The smart thing to have done by the Club, was to show 6-8 candidates til the Primary's. Let the people pick and choose the best of the three. You would have confused the heck out of the Democrats.. "That's thinking outside of the box" - to win.
Meanwhile: The Democratic party has no conflict of interest, other than winning.? -

Asbury Park was once a desirable place up until the 70's. Then look what happened; it's 2013. They are finally making a slow come back - 40 some what years later. Long Branch was a happening place til late 80, til the fire. The it's revival in early 2000 . That took 20 years.. we haven't seen anything yet.

Go - Blue Acres !! Think about it,, there are more storms comming.. Its been 7 months of a nightmare.. Does anyone want to live in another 7years of this.? There are many people still waiting and waiting and waiting..? But don't wory to long,, let's see what happens this year - when the next storm hits.. Perhaps, that will be the incentive..
