On the article With Funding Scarce, Few in Brick Apply to Raise Houses

ReplyI don't know if it is political and I hope it is not. What it is, is unethical and the government should be ashame of themselves. Honest hardworking taxpayers that have been fortunate enough to do well for themselves are being penalized. The government sure spoke quickly after Sandy, stating they will rebuild and we will have all the assistance we need. Other then the boardwalks, the progress has been slow and that has been a direct result of lack of funding and the proposed flood maps. It will never be the same at the Shore and it will be many years before it even comes close to how it was.

Arlene, I believe the damage mostly came from after the storm. Keep in mind, the parking lot has been used as a debris sorting area. The tons of debris and the heavy equipment used to transport the debris caused additional damage to the lot. The lot was not designed to hold up to several tons of equipment and debris. I do believe the middle section parking lot or the bayside parking lot will be sufficient. I have been to the beach several times and in the summer the main lot is filled, the middle lot is filled and even the bayside lot. In regards to paying to go on the beach and also parking, I don't have an issue with parking but why the beach? Florida does not charge to get on the beach and they have some of the nicest beaches in the world.

I won't say specific numbers but I can say it is not 30 cars. Traffic safety and detectives do not rotate cars. They have their own dedicated cars. Overall the majority of the cars are left at HQ.

No secret. The majority due not take cars home. Traffic safety does because they have to respond at all hours to fatalities. Top brass have cars as well and detectives.

ReplyI have heard stories circulating that the bay may possibly be closed this summer to boaters. I heard this from a boat Captain. Based on the time line in this article it seems that may be a strong possibility. Although most boaters will be upset, I think it may be the best and safest option for everyone. Removing all the debris and dredging all the incremental sand from the bay will eliminate any unnecessary damage to boats. In addition, would also eliminate any serious injury to boaters.

I agree. I don't believe Harry was on the Brick Beaches. I am not sure where the photo was taken when Harry was meeting Acropolis and Brick Chief, but if it was in Brick, neither of them should of been there if they were being paid. If they weren't being paid, no issues. But, if they were on the clock that is a waste of the tax payers money.
