Department of Defense announces that Marine Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan died on Monday on combat duty
Sadly, there will soon be five plaques at Central Regional High School's War Memorial for fallen alumni killed in foreign wars. Almost a month to the day after the memorial was dedicated, Marine Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr. was killed on Nov. 26, the Department of Defense announced today. Monahan, 25, Island Heights, died while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, the defense department said. He was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, the D.O.D. said.
