Convenience stores robbed Sunday morning, cops say
Brick police are searching for a suspect in two armed robberies that occurred in town early Sunday morning. The 7-Eleven store on Route 88 and the Wawa on Lanes Mill Road were both robbed by a man with a knife. Police suspect the same person is responsible for both robberies. The first of the two robberies occurred at the 7-Eleven at about 4:20 a.m., said Brick Police Sgt. Keith Reinhard. At that time, a person wearing a ski mask entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded money from the store employee. New location opened Friday on Route 70 in Lakewood
WaWa celebrated the grand opening of its newest Ocean County location Friday by making donations to local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. CEO Howard Stoeckel presented a $10,000 donation to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey while marking the opening of the convenience store chain's new location on Route 70 in Lakewood. Company: we'll stay open to serve the community and first responders

"Wherever possible, as long as the safety of our customers and associates is not compromised, we will attempt to remain open in order to serve the community and the first responders who count on us during times of crisis," the company said. The company said it closed several of its stores in southern New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland after the areas in which they were …

Area gas stations are feeling the economic pinch as much as anyone, local station owners say
If you don’t blame the messenger for bad news, don’t blame your local gas station owner for higher fuel prices, they say. Gas station owners say they're feeling the pain at the pump as much as anyone. In fact, revenue is somewhere between flat and slightly down at local gas stations, since many are shying away from paying amost $3, or more, per gallon. “People are frustrated,” said Jeff Bevacqua, owner of Joe’s Service Center and Towing on Mantoloking Road. Bevacqua’s service station includes a Liberty gas station on the premises. A gallon of regular fuel cost $2.96 per gallon on Monday, Jan. 10 at Liberty. Premium was selling for $3.26 per gallon. Despite the skyrocketing prices, gas station owners aren’t laughing all the way to the bank…
