Red Lion Liquor License Transferred to Chain

Joe's Crab Shack will move into Brick Plaza

The liquor license held by the former Red Lion Inn on Drum Point Road has now been transferred to Crab Addison, Inc., which will utilize it in the operation of a chain seafood restaurant planned for Brick Plaza. In September, the township planning board approved an application by Joe's Crab Shack to construct a new restaurant in the shopping complex. The 8,600 square foot restaurant will be located where the former FedEx-Kinko's store was located in the rear of the plaza in a stand-alone building, said Township Planner Mike Fowler at the time. The building that formerly housed FedEx-Kinko's will be demolished, Fowler said. The restaurant will feature, in addition to its indoor dining room, an outdoor "pirate ship" themed play area for kids…

I agree. I didn't like it as soon as I walked into it. The noise was deafening. Should have turned around and walked right out. All of those chains, Oil & Lube, Buffalo wild wings and Joe's crab shack are way too loud and the food only just so so, however, Oil & Lube does have a wonderful burger.. but get it to go.   more ›

Brick Landmark Demolished: Red Lion is No More

CVS Pharmacy will replace historic tavern

Construction crews demolished the former Red Lion Inn on Friday. The historic tavern closed its doors and took down its iconic Snoopy figure from its roof in January, but the building had remained standing at the corner of Hooper Avenue and Drum Point Road since. "I cant belive they're taking this down for another drugstore," said Maryann Jones, who came to look at the activity. "Its been a landmark forever. I am sorry to see it go, it's part of Bricks history." Historical records show the …

So Long, Snoopy: Red Lion Closes Its Doors This Week

Patrons share memories as Brick landmark says goodbye

The Red Lion Inn will serve up its last bar pie and pour its last drink this week. The historic tavern, restaurant and liquor store on Drum Point Road, which dates back to the 1920s, will literally have its last call Wednesday night, as the establishment will shut down in preparation for a CVS Pharmacy to take its place at the corner of Drum Point and Hooper. For locals who haven't driven down Drum Point in the past few days, we'll break the news to you: Snoopy has already been taken down from the roof. Historical records show the tavern was built in 1926. According to the book "Images of America - Brick Township," the restaurant was founded by Joseph and Phyllis McClorry, who ran it until 1957, when it became Citta’s Red Lion Tavern. The …
