Thiele Road Construction Begins

Roadway will be milled, paved

An improvement project has begun on Thiele Road. Construction began on the roadway, which provides access to a number of neighborhoods in the township's Herbertsville section, on Monday. Some sewer plates and driveway aprons were replaced on Monday, and on Tuesday, work continued with manhole covers being lifted and replaced. Ultimately, the project will include the paving of the roadway – a notorious trouble spot in snow storms – as well as the replacement of drainage inlet curb pieces and grates, resetting of manhole casting and valve boxes to grade, replacement of traffic loop detectors at the Herbertsville Road intersection, installation of traffic striping and markings, replacement of traffic signs and driveway restoration. So far, …

Here we go w/ the snow again. Get over it already, if you've lived in Brick long enough you should know that Brick has never been great at clearing roads when we get large amounts like we have in the past 2 winters. I've lived here almost 50 years and anything over 16" put a huge strain on DPW capabilities and the speed at which they clear the roads. If you want experienced and ready crews that …   more ›

Speaking of drainage, might be a good idea to fix where 88 and burrsville rd meet. Everytime is rains, you have to drive on the opposite side of the road to get past the deep water. Might wanna throw some money into that poorly done road.   more ›

Route 88 Resurfacing Project Begins

Project will stretch from Folsom Drive in Brick to New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood

A project that will see the resurfacing of nearly the entire stretch of Route 88 through Brick has begun, according to state officials. The state Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Monday that workers employed by Joseph DeFino Contracting will immediately start shoulder closures and install advance construction signage and fencing. The initial stage of construction involves work off the mainline highway and will not impact traffic, DOT representatives said in a statement. The $3.8 million project will resurface Route 88 in both directions from Folsom Drive, just west of Midstreams Road, in Brick to New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood. The 4.5 mile stretch of the state highway will be repaved with asphalt and intersections will be …

Route 88 Construction Project to Begin in March

Crews will work at night to rehabilitate the state highway

The state Department of Transportation will begin a highway rehabilitation project this spring that will stretch from mile makers 3.56 to 6.5 on Route 88 in Brick. Those mile markers represent an area of Route 88 beginning just east of the Van Zile Road intersection to just before the Chambers Bridge Road/Lanes Mill Road intersection, near the Lakewood border. The roadway will be milled, paved and its shoulders and safety features improved, officials said. Culverts over creeks along the highway will also be rehabilitated or replaced. Work on the project is set to begin March 1, according to Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis. Crews from DeFino Contracting Company will complete the work during the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Friday…
