Girl Found Safe After Joint Base Search

NJ 101.5 reported that Brittney Snodgrass was found

Brittney Snodgrass has been found safe, according to NJ 101.5. Snodgrass was last seen getting off her school bus on Ash Street at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to NJ 101.5. When she did not arrive home, a search began via social media, the base wide “big voice” giant intercom and  on the ground, according to the station. More can be found here.

Good Samaritan Killed While Helping To Push Disabled Car off Garden State Parkway

Accident happened at mile marker 74.7 northbound, State Police say

A man who was trying to help push a disabled car off the northbound lane of the Garden State Parkway died when a passing car struck and killed him early this evening, State Police said. Preliminary reports indicate the man was one of four who stopped to push the disabled car onto the shoulder of the roadway in Lacey Township, Sgt. Adam Grossman said. "The person at the rear left of the vehicle was struck by a passing motor vehicle," he said. "Unfortunately it looks like a Good Samaritan...they are still trying to sort things out." The man - whose identify is being withheld for now - was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune by the Lacey Township First Aid Squad. "He was pronounced dead at the hospital," Grossman said. …

Woman, 70, Dies From Injuries Suffered In Manchester Crash; Dog Euthanized

A 70-year-old woman died Monday after her car crashed into a utility pole on Route 539 in Manchester, police said. Karen Olsen of Allentown, N.J., a passenger in the vehicle driven by her husband, died after she was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for severe head trauma, and then airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Olsen, who was pronounced dead at Jersey Shore, had been properly restrained and had to be extricated from the vehicle, police said. The driver, 70-year-old Robert S. Olsen of Allentown, was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Jersey Shore for chest injuries. He was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon, police said. Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested

Lakewood police arrested the suspect driver who hit and critically injured a Chaveirim member and then fled the scene, according to the Chaveirim of Lakewood.

The Lakewood Police Department arrested the suspected driver who hit and critically injured a Chaveirim member, Moshe Guttmann, and then fled the scene, according to a statement released by the Chaveirim of Lakewood. A family member of the victim who did not give up searching for the vehicle spotted the possible match to the Chevy Astro van parked in the rear of an East 5th Street home, according to the statement. The family member questioned someone outside the residence regarding the damage to the vehicle, and was told it was involved in an accident last week. Joseph O'Connor died as a result of the injuries he sustained from being pinned against the building

Funeral information is now available for a 73-year-old Whiting man who died Friday after a vehicle struck him while he was sitting on a bench, police said. At 9:50 a.m., Joseph O'Connor, 73, was sitting on the bench in front of the Route 530 CVS store when he was struck and killed by a 2012 Subaru Forester wagon. The wagon was operated by Evelyn Treibly, 76, also of Whiting, police said. O'Connor died as a result of the injuries he sustained from being pinned against the building by the vehicle, police said. Visiting hours will be Wed 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at The Family Owned Carmona Bolen Home For Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting, according to legacy.com. About 15 were injured when a 15-passenger van collided with an SUV at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Oberlin Avenue Tuesday, according to The Lakewood Scoop. First Emergency personnel on scene immediately declared it an MCI (mass casualty incident), and requested mutual aid from every Emergency Service in Lakewood and neighboring townships, according to The Lakewood Scoop. Driver Critically Injured On Route 70

Accident could be more severe than originally reported

A driver was critically injured Friday after being involved in a serious accident on Route 70, according to the Lakewood Scoop. The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. on Route 70 eastbound, between Towbin Road and Airport Road in Lakewood, when a driver rear ended another vehicle, according to the Lakewood Scoop. A 46-year-old Lakewood woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to second degree manslaughter in connection with the death of her 67-year-old mother. Lisa Foster made the plea before Judge Wendel E. Daniels, saying she was responsible for the death of her mother, Claudette, a resident of the Original Leisure Village in Lakewood. Lisa Foster faces a potential jail term of up to 10 years. The actual term imposed in this case will be determined by Daniels when he imposes sentence on Feb 28, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. The investigation began on March 1, 2012 when the Lakewood Township Police Department received a call from a third party reporting that a woman might be dead in the Foster home, according to the prosecutor's office. …
