Kitchen Fire Leaves Home Damaged

Firefighters knocked down the blaze in the Herbertsville section

Firefighters knocked down the flames from a kitchen fire at a Herbertsville home Thursday afternoon. Firefighters from the Herbertsville and Laurelton fire companies responded to the blaze at 337 18th Ave., off Herbertsville Road, before 4 p.m. "The owner of the residence was not home, so we were very lucky with that," said Chief Dave Sanchez of the Herbertsville Fire Company. Nobody, including firefighters, was injured. Crews were collecting equipment and leaving the scene by 6 p.m. Sanchez said the home suffered smoke damage and would require a good deal of cleanup before the owner could move back in.
