Tuesday Hiring Fair Aims to Pair Veterans with Sandy Recovery Jobs

American Legion-sponsored event runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday in Toms River

A military-focused job fair aiming to staff "quick-fill" positions available in the wake of Hurricane Sandy is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Toms River. The free "Hiring Our Heroes" event, being held by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and several state and federal agencies including the American Legion, invites veterans, active duty military, National Guard and reserve members and military spouses to the George P. Vanderveer American Legion Post 129, 2025 Church Rd. in Toms River from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The primary focus of the fair is to find applicants to meet the needs of employers dealing with rebuilding following Sandy's devastation in New Jersey. Looking For a Summer Job? Two Seasonal Job Fairs: Saturday, Wednesday

Seaside Heights, Ocean County Library hosting events

It's getting down to the wire to get a summer job. But two job fairs hope to corral the hundreds of employees needed locally to staff for the season. One is this Saturday, noon to 3 p.m. on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. A second is hosted by the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library, and will be held May 9. Seaside Heights On May 5, Seaside Heights will have its job fair, which is hosted by the State Department of Labor and features multiple seasonal employers for businesses there. The jobs, which last from about Memorial Day to Labor Day, often pay minimum wage.
