Winning Soccer Stars Score a Proclamation From Township

Twin County U15 Real Magic Girls Soccer Team receives awards from township council

A high-achieving soccer team from the local area was honored by the Brick Township Council on Tuesday evening, after a very successful season that led them to be designated as one of the top-ranked squads in the nation. The female roster of Twin County Real Magic U15 all accepted proclamations from the council, with governing body members Rob Moore and Joseph Sangiovanni leading the proceedings. “The Real Magic’s outstanding season includes capturing second place in the NJYS National Championship Series, a state cup, and second place at the U.S. Club Soccer of New Jersey Competition. BTHS Girls Soccer Achieves - And Scores - Goals in 2010

Despite a bittersweet end, goals were achieved in more ways than one during the Dragon's 2010 campaign.

After making a surprise run to the Group III semifinals in 2009, the Brick Dragons girls varsity soccer squad opened 2010 with quite a few goals. With a large number of returners, winning the Class B South title for the first time in over a decade was first on the list. The Dragons came to play, and dominated the B South division with a record of 9-0-1 and a 13-5-1 record overall.  "This was one of the most successful seasons in our program's history," said coach Micheal Berardinelli. It was a season neither he nor his players will soon forget. Brick managed to qualify for the Shore Conference tournament as the 10th seed. Much like their first title win in over ten years, it was the Dragons' first appearance in the tournament since 2003. …
