Two reported this week, cops say
Police are investigating two daytime burglaries – one in the Herbertsville section and one in the Lions Head South community – that occurred this week. In the first of the two burglaries, which occurred Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at a residence on 5th Avenue, a resident told police someone had entered the home and stole a watch and digital camera, according to Capt. John Rein. In that incident, Rein said the burglar was believed to have entered the home through a rear window. The second burglary occurred on Wednesday between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. In that buglary, an Ashford Drive resident came home and found the front door kicked in and immediately called police, Rein said. Jewelry and cash were found to have been stolen from the…

Brick Police are investigating the third daytime burglary in recent weeks, which is the first that occurred while a resident was home, according to Capt. John Rein. The burglary took place last Friday on the 2100 block of Lanes Mill Road at approximately 11:15 a.m., Rein said. The female resident told police that she heard a knock at the door which she initially ignored. The person at the door then opened the screen door and knocked again on the inner door. After the person knocked on the inner door, the resident approached the doorway, at which point the person on the outside kicked the door in and stepped into the living room of the home, Rein said. When the person who had kicked in the door saw the resident standing in the living room, …

An alert resident, a Greenbriar II security officer and Brick Township police officers all contributed to the arrest of a 23-year-old Dartmoor Road man who cops say admitted to burglarizing six homes in the senior community recently. Michael Rose has been arrested and charged with the burglaries, according to Sgt. Keith Reinhard. Officers responded to Greenbriar II on Tuesday night at 7:38 p.m., Reinhard said, after a resident alerted a security officer that his backyard motion detector lights turned on, and he saw a white male dressed in dark clothing running behind the house. A security officer located and confronted the man, who he recognized as Rose, Reinhard said. Rose ran from the security guard, but police officers then went to Rose…

Brick Police are investigating several residential burglaries that occurred recently on one street in the township's Herbertsville section. Three homes were burglarized on Yellowbrick Road, off Herbertsville Road, sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Monday and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Capt. John Rein. Two of the burglaries are believed to have occurred in the early morning hours when the residents were home and the perpetrators entered through an unlocked door, Rein said. Once inside the homes, the burglars stole flat panel televisions sets, laptop computers, a camera and an XBox video game console. Rein said residents should lock windows and doors on the lower levels of their homes, secure valuable items from plain sight where they can…

Spate of burglaries have affected both sides of town, cops say
As April approaches, Brick police are actively investigating more than 60 burglaries to vehicles parked in the township during the months of February and March. A majority of the vehicles that were entered were left open or unlocked, according to Sgt. Keith Reinhard. In most cases, thieves stole electronics, GPS units or money, he said. The spate of burglaries have affected both ends of town, however, not necessarily at the same time. Reinhard said the southern end of town saw the majority of the break-ins during the month of February, while residents of the northern part of town - specifically the Herbertsville section - took the brunt of the burglaries committed in March. "We are ... asking residents to be vigilant about locking your …

Residents asked to be vigilant, report suspicious people or vehicles
Police are asking residents of Brick's senior communities to be on the lookout for suspicious people or vehicles following 12 reported burglaries since October. The burglaries all occurred in the daytime, between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., said Capt. John Rein. The homes where the burglaries occurred were all unoccupied. The similarities of the incidents have led police to believe the burglaries may be connected, Rein said. "We believe that it’s probably the same actor or actors doing it," Rein told Brick Patch. Four of the 12 burglaries occurred in the Greenbriar I community off Burnt Tavern Road, three each occurred in Lions Head North and Lions Head South off Brick Boulevard, and one burglary each occurred in the Greenbriar II and Wedgewood …
