Council Approves Move to Seek Bids on Bayside Park Bulkheading

Maximum expense of $600,000 set for bids on project to repair failing bulkhead at barrier island park

The bulkhead and boardwalk at Bayside Beach in the Normandy Beach section of town will soon be replaced, after the Brick Township Council approved a resolution to seek bids on the project Tuesday night. The project, estimated to cost $600,000 is long overdue in the eyes of the residents, who expressed dismay that the park has had limited usefulness since playground equipment was removed several months ago. "That's the only public park on the bay for the residents of Brick," one resident said, noting that it's been "a whole year" since blockades were put up around the north end of the boardwalk to warn people to stay off it. I don't live on the barrier island and I would hate to think what we would pay in taxes without them, probably double. So if they want a bulkhead repaired I say great and what took so long. What would the Town pay in damages if, God forbid, someone fell through the broken area and got hurt. Also this is an area that we all can enjoy.   more ›
