Power outages also result from crash
An accident Sunday night shut down a portion of Chambers Bridge Road and sent one man to the hospital, police said. Officer Jay Lampiasi said a 2003 Jeep Wrangler being driven by Neil Napolitano of Ocean Township veered to the right as it was approaching the intersection with the entrance to the Kohl’s shopping plaza at about 7:50 p.m. The Jeep hit the curbed island of the plaza entrance and continued south, striking a fire hydrant and a utility pole before coming to a final rest on Chambers Bridge Road approximately 75 feet south of the shopping plaza entranceway, Lampiasi said. Two cars collide at intersection of Hooper and Mantoloking
Emergency responders treated two men for minor injuries following an accident Friday morning at the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Mantoloking Road. According to Brick Police Sgt. Keith Reinhard, a vehicle driven by Mark Jameson was traveling west on Cedar Bridge Avenue, crossing over Hooper Avenue, onto Mantoloking Road when another vehicle, driven by Carmen Maldanado, was in the left hand turn lane of Mantoloking Road, attempting to turn onto Hooper. Both drivers had a green light and witnesses stated that the vehicle driven by Maldanado turned in front of Jameson, causing the crash, Reinhard said. A two-vehicle accident on Princeton Avenue sent one Brick man to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say Louis A. Ruggieri, 41, was driving his 1974 Chevrolet Corvette westbound on Princeton Avenue just after 4 p.m. Monday when a second vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by Avo Pruul, 76, of Brick, turned onto Princeton from 4th Street. Pruul was attempting to make a left turn into the eastbound lanes of Princeton Ave., according to Brick Police Sgt. David Bedrosian. Ruggieri tried to stop the Corvette before the impact, leaving about 40 feet of tire marks on the road, Bedrosian said. Woman who died was heading home after being involved in a fender bender
The driver of the van involved in the Saturday evening accident at the intersection of Route 70 and Massachusetts Avenue faces a slew of charges, including death by auto, driving under the influence, being an unlicensed driver, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an injury accident, along with other motor vehicle charges, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. The driver was identified as Abel Hernandez, 127 North Oak Avenue, Lakewood. Hernandez is being held in the Ocean County Jail on $175,000 bail set by Judge James Blaney. Police said driver flees after turning head-on into victim's truck
A 71 year-old woman passenger died from injuries after a van turned head-on into a pick-up truck on Route 70 Saturday evening. The driver of the van fled on foot and is now in police custody, officials said. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy has not released the names of the victims, or the driver of the second vehicle. He said that shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday, a pick-up truck heading westbound on Route 70 struck a van that was making a turn from Route 70 east onto Massachusetts northbound. A Manchester man was injured in an accident that occurred Monday afternoon near the Garden State Parkway off-ramp on Chambers Bridge Road in Brick. According to Brick Police Sgt. David Bedrosian, the 80-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family members, failed to negotiate the curve of the exit ramp in his 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis, and proceeded through the wooded area and continued out across the southbound lanes of Chambers Bridge Road. The vehicle struck the center lane divider before striking a 2008 Pontiac G5 being driven by Robert Abramson, 69, of Bayville, Bedorsian said. The driver of a Ford Explorer SUV rear-ended a JCP&L utility truck overnight, resulting in injuries that sent him to a trauma center. Police say Jason R. Schroyer, 37, of Toms River, suffered multiple bone fractures in his lower body in the 12:40 a.m. accident, which occurred at the intersection of Brick Boulevard and Molly Lane in the southbound lanes. According to a report from Brick Police Traffic Safety Officer Scott Dierking, Schroyer's 2001 Ford Explorer SUV struck the rear of a 1999 JCP&L International Utility truck being operated by Edward F. Lanes temporarily closed
A motorcyclist was injured after his motorcycle collided with a van on Princeton Avenue, police said. One lane of Princeton Avenue remained closed just after 6 p.m. Monday, according to Brick Police Sgt. Art Rivaldo. The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. just west of 1st St. Rivaldo said the person driving the motorcycle was taken to Ocean Medical Center for treatment of a severe leg injury and a possible head injury, and pending stabilization there, was supposed to be flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Route 88 and other local streets have reopened after a dump truck hit the Garden State Parkway overpass early Wednesday morning just after 3 a.m. The roadway was closed between Jack Martin Boulevard and Chambers Bridge Road, according to Brick Police Capt John Rein, but is now reopened. The accident occurred within the borders of Lakewood, just east of the Ocean Lanes bowling alley, and Lakewood police are investigating the accident, Rein said. Detours that were in place early Wednesday morning have been lifted.

Accident happened just south of exit 90
An accident has been reported in the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway, just south of exit 90 in Brick Township. According to the state Department of Transportation, the left lane of Parkway South is currently blocked. There is a one mile delay behind the accident scene.
