Toms River's Board of Education will investigate the alleged police impersonation and sex crime at Intermediate East, and the teacher who allegedly was victimized has been suspended with pay while that process unfolds, according to Superintendent of Schools Frank Roselli. "In the interest of the teacher, students and staff, and pending a thorough investigation, the teacher in question has been put on suspension with pay," Roselli writes in a letter posted to the Intermediate East website Friday. Students from Brick, Toms River among the winners
For the fourth year in a row, a team of high school students from the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Sciences (MATES) in Manahawkin was the winner of the New Jersey Envirothon, held Saturday, May 4 at Girl Scout Camp Kettle Run in Medford, the state's Department of Agriculture has announced. The team, consisting of Emily Golembiski of Little Egg Harbor, Jillian Hubbard of Toms River, Gillian Schriever of West Creek, Michael Signorelli of Toms River and Megan Tumpey of Brick, will represent New Jersey in the 2013 North American Envirothon at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana in August. Meeting will be open to the public
Lacey school board members will have more to say about the indictment of schools Superintendent Sandra Brower at a special meeting on Friday night, Board President Eric J. Schubiger said this afternoon. The meeting will get underway at 8 p.m. in the lecture hall at Lacey Township High School, he said. "It will be open to the public," Schubiger said. OCC second year student Nick Tyler to continue studying computer science after graduation this month
When Nick Tyler graduates from Ocean County College in Toms River, N.J. later this month, he'll do so with a dual mission in mind: continue his computer science studies at Kean University, then use his programming skills to make life easier for those with disabilities. For his efforts, Tyler has been chosen as Huffington Post's Greatest Person of the Day. Tyler, of Brick Township, N.J., relies on technology to help him navigate life on a daily basis to a much greater extent than most people. He was born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which has resulted in his having limited control of his arms and legs, as well as his voice.
