Dennis C. Moyer, 63, of Brick passed away on Saturday, April 21, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Dennis was born in Somers Point and was raised in Howell before moving to Brick. He was the co-owner of D & D Drywall until his retirement. Dennis was a US Marine Corps veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was predeceased by a brother. Dennis is survived by two daughters, Tuesday Broughman and her husband, Johnny of Newport News, Va.; and Jessica Lada of Point Pleasant; a granddog, Cole; and a brother, John Graf of Florida. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday with funeral service to follow at 8:30 p.m. Cremation …

The Garden State Seafood Association honored the late bayman James Harry, of Brick, with its Commercial Seafood Award during a ceremony Jan. 18 at the New Jersey State Agricultural Convention in Atlantic City. Ocean County Agriculture Agent Gef Flimlin and James Lovgren, a Point Pleasant fisherman and friend of Harry’s, accepted the award for Jim Harry's wife, Patricia. Harry, a founding director of the Commercial Fishermen’s Association and the Garden State Seafood Association, died in September at the age of 70. In addition to his leadership in the fishing community, Harry was known as a long-time member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau, Ocean County Farm Bureau, and the Ocean County Board of Agriculture, serving as its president for 15 …

Hundreds of law enforcement officers, friends and family pay their respects to 10-year officer
Hundreds of law enforcement officers paid their respects today to a fallen colleague, Ocean County Detective Tina Rambo. Each of the mourners at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Marlton marched single-file before saluting Rambo, who died Monday after a head-on collision on Route 70. As the ceremony started, a close friend of Rambo's, Anthony Turso, said a few words. "Tina always tried to make things right, to make them perfect. She loves to laugh and joke around, to tease her friends and family. She was a ball of fire." Rambo's sister, Tara Cunningham, also spoke, and told a story of her sister and a trip they had taken. "Tina loved being a cop, and this send-off is such an honor to what she was and wanted to be." Rambo's eulogy was read by her …

Flags will fly at half-staff around the county today in honor of fallen Ocean County Detective Tina E. Rambo. The Office of the Ocean County Administrator issued the order in recognition and mourning of Rambo, a prosecutor's office detective who was killed Monday morning in a head-on collision in the Southampton portion of Route 70. Services were held Thursday and this morning at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Marlton for the 10-year veteran of the Ocean office. Tina Rambo died Monday in Route 70 crash
Funeral services for Tina E. Rambo, an Ocean County detective who died Monday in a head-on collision on Route 70, will be held tomorrow and Friday. According to an obituary prepared by Bradley Funeral Home in Marlton, the viewing will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 349 Evesboro Medford Road in Marlton. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Isaac Jogues Church. Interment is in Coleston Cemetery, Cherry Hill. Tina Rambo, formerly of Toms River, died in Route 70 crash in Southampton
Tina Rambo, a detective with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, died today in a head-on collision on Southampton's portion of Route 70. The Burlington County head-on collision was confirmed by Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, who said Rambo, 35, was a valued member of the county detective force and the mother of two small children. State police said on Monday afternoon that Rambo was driving her assigned, 2000 blue Ford Crown Victoria alone on Route 70 when her car collided with another car at milemarker 21 at 8 a.m. Rambo was driving eastbound and Rachel Portnoy, 24, of Marlton, was, originally, driving westbound in a 2004 silver Saturn Ion. Thinking of current events and remembering the five-year anniversary of my favorite comic's Atlantic City performance.
Some folks create hours-long playlists for a long trip. Me, I dig out George Carlin on audiobook and laugh the entire way to my destination. It’s hard for me to believe it’s been three years since George Carlin’s death. The brilliant, irreverent, mischievous and unabashed comic died June 2008. That’s because every time I listen, watch or read his routines these days, it is as though he’s satirizing current events. The jokes remain fresh, though Carlin’s catalog spans several decades. The barbs thrown at all sorts of systems — whether Carlin is mocking the political system, education system or whatnot — remain relevant. Memorial gathering for Nicholas Holmes, 25, to be held on July 2 in Lacey Township
Nicholas Holmes was described on by his friends on Facebook as a “guy who meant the world to a lot of people.” Holmes, 25, of Lanoka Harbor, died in a boating accident on June 25 in Barnegat Bay. He was thrown overboard from a 23-foot scarab near Tices Shoal when it was hit by a strong wake from another passing boat, according to the New Jersey State Police. Holmes, a Machinery Technician First Class in the U.S. Coast Guard, was honored with several vigils at Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor before his body was found in Barnegat Bay around 10 a.m. June 28. “He will be missed dearly, the amount of lives he touched in his short life greatly exceeds the amount of lives a normal person will touch in his lifetime,” his obituary on Legacy.com …

The wake for Army Sgt. and Toms River resident James W. Harvey II, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 20, will be held Tuesday, June 28, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35 in Wall. Harvey's funeral service will be held at St. Catherine's Church at 215 Essex Avenue in Spring Lake, following by internment at St. Anne's Cemetery at 1610 Allenwood Road in Wall.
