A Resident July 22, 2014 at 09:25 am
Art H, it means no one is paying to ride the carousel. It's a pretty simple process with the rideRead More business. If enough people are not paying to ride a ride, the ride gets changed to something else. Simple rule of business.

@Marynary This whole thread has been like hypnosis to me! There are so many things that I forgot,Read More but I recalled after reading peoples posts. I now thought I heard the same thing about a missing woman that was never found. I tried to find info on it, but I was unable to. Maybe it was a "Brick Legend Myth"? Who knows but I have a similar recollection as you did. These are the things that drive me crazy.

"Tavern-on-the Mall opened as a fancy nightclub in the mid-1960's and was allegedly owned andRead More patronized by goodfellas. A local woman and her boyfriend left there one night in the '60s and were never seen again. Indeed, a mystery. The joint started going down-hill in the 1970's, especially after a Brick High School girl was busted there for prostitution. In the 1980's, a man who had won the NJ lottery bought the place, kept the name, and re-branded it as a go-go bar (NOT a gentleman's club). During that time there was a "Go-Go-Rama featuring 100 Dancers" one day. However, a patron who was there from to noon until closing only counted about 80. The TOTM closed in 1988 and was replaced by a Blockbuster Video store. Buffalo Wild Wings now occupies the site."

in the universe of ETs, Earth is much like Australia was to Great Britain - Earth is a penal colonyRead More for crimes against the universe of superior life and NJ is the official check-in counter - those that pass the Chris Christie integrity core educational program go directly to hell (Mars) and those looking for the 72 virgins they were promised go directly to Venus - Mercury will always remain the homeland of the Seasides and will continue to violate everything in its shadows - and now you know why the Raelians pay tribute to the Seasides every summer with a flyover - you're welcome :-)

I know they mean well, but there are still people for whom this symbol holds bitter memories. MaybeRead More in the future it will be possible. I know the Navaho have a similar symbol called a "whirling log" that is now confined to healing rituals and rugs since the 40's. It would be good if they could express their spirituality more freely again. Maybe in a few more decades...

I rode on this carousel as a child, my children rode on it and now my grandchildren are enjoying it.Read More This is the only truly beautiful and historic thing on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. How could anyone believe that it could be replaced with any new ride or amusement that would make the Seaside Heights boardwalk better or more attractive. The Seaside Heights community continues to claim that they want to improve their image and make Seaside more family friendly. Decisions like this one to remove the Casino carousel prove that they do not have a clear vision of what is important to families. Please do not remove this wonderful carousel and destroy the joy that can be brought to countless children in the future. I can say for sure my family will not go to the Seaside boardwalk ever again if the carousel is gone.
Mac July 16, 2014 at 02:35 pm
the carousel is being replaced because it doesn't serve the interests of the majority of visitors toRead More the Seaside boardwalks anymore - straws, needles, knives and barf bags don't serve much of a purpose on a carousel - what we need are more unlit funhouses for more updated medical experiments
MissElanyS July 17, 2014 at 08:29 am
Seaside is such a trashbag magnet now anyway, the carousel will be safer in the hands of someone whoRead More will buy it and care for it. Another childhood NJ memory gone forever. Such a shame.
