Late Brick Fisherman Honored

Commercial Seafood Award given out last week

The Garden State Seafood Association honored the late bayman James Harry, of Brick, with its Commercial Seafood Award during a ceremony Jan. 18 at the New Jersey State Agricultural Convention in Atlantic City.

Ocean County Agriculture Agent Gef Flimlin and James Lovgren, a Point Pleasant fisherman and friend of Harry’s, accepted the award for Jim Harry's wife, Patricia.

Harry, a founding director of the Commercial Fishermen’s Association and the Garden State Seafood Association, died in September at the age of 70.

In addition to his leadership in the fishing community, Harry was known as a long-time member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau, Ocean County Farm Bureau, and the Ocean County Board of Agriculture, serving as its president for 15 years.
