Traders Cove Park Officially Opens

Playground, grassy area, scenic bay views off Mantoloking Road

Township officials were on hand Thursday afternoon to cut the ribbon and raise the American flag at the site of a former derelict marina that has been turned into what is being called a world class waterfront park.

The site was destined to be turned into 65 foot-high condominiums at one point, but was purchased by the township and, over several years, was turned into the park that opened this week.

The township is still planning to install new docks and boat slips at the site – some of which were destroyed by Superstorm Sandy – so the park can generate revenue. The park also features a double-sized boat ramp that can be used on a daily or seasonal basis.
