Brick Township: Three Family Friendly Ocean Beaches

Beaches reopened after suffering damage during Sandy

Brick boasts three family-friendly ocean beaches on the Barnegat Peninsula, with one set aside for fishing.

Beaches are guarded daily from June 16 through Labor Day. Lifeguards are posted on weekends only starting on Memorial Day and after Labor Day through Sept. 15.

All of the township's public beaches have reopened after suffering damage from Superstorm Sandy, though the oceanfront area south of Beach III remains off-limits to beachgoers.

Seasonal badges are $25 before June 15 and $30 after June 15 and are good for Brick Township’s three ocean beaches along Route 35 and the bathing area at Windward Beach Park on Princeton Avenue. A daily wristband is $5. There are no weekly badges sold. Children under 12 are admitted free.

Beachgoers who turn 65 before Sept. 1 can access the beach for free with a daily wristband. A birth certificate or valid driver's license is required.

Three paid parking lots (one at Beach III, one at Beach I and another in the center median of Route 35) are available. The cost for a seasonal parking permit is $30, and metered parking is $5 per hour. Seniors citizens can get a parking permit for $15.

Since Sandy destroyed the township's electronic parking meters, there is no hourly metered parking this season. Parking is free after 4 p.m. The township has gone back to using hang tags rather than stickers for parking this season.

Badges and parking stickers can be purchased at the township recreation office at Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road.

There is also a beach bus that runs from July 1 through Aug. 23. The bus schedule is available on the township's recreation guide website.

Individuals with disabilities have the opportunity toreserve a specially designed wheel chair that will provide easy access to Beach I, Beach III and Windward Beach.Call 732-262-1184.
