2013 Brick Beach Badges Now Available

The beach badge price is $25 if bought before June 15. Price jumps to $30 after then.

Beach badges for Brick Township are now available and Mayor Stephen Acropolis says the beaches will be ready on Memorial Day weekend, despite the damage from Hurricane Sandy in late October.

“Despite the significant trauma suffered on the barrier island, our three ocean beaches and Windward Beach on the Metedeconk River will be open for business on Memorial Day Weekend.” said Acropolis said in a statement.

The badges can be purchased from 8am to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Parks and Recreation Department office located in the Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road.

Beach badge rates remain at the 2012 price for the 2013 season, with a full season badge purchased before or on June 15 costing $25. Full season badges increase to $30 starting June 16. Cash, check and money orders are accepted.

For more information contact the Parks and Recreation office at (732) 262-1075.

Beach Badge Fees. Might as well just put them on layaway for awhile.
WMS826 December 7, 2012 at 01:27 am
With all my tax money involved in this Sandy stuff I think I already paid for a lifetime membership.
Where will we all sit since most of it was washed away.

Brick needs a nude beach. I like an all around tan.
BrickAmericanMan December 7, 2012 at 01:34 am
all nj beaches are supposed to be free since tax money was used to fix them.
clamdigger December 7, 2012 at 01:59 am
i'm suprised beach owners aren't currently charging to get on the beach now w/ all those who want to go and see what the damages are. as for the beach badge fee,LOL this is real joke by the Twp.

Now I saw footage of Pt. Pleasant Beach and the beach got so much deeper in length. I don't understand that.

Why is it that the people we least want to see are the nudists?
brickrezident December 7, 2012 at 01:18 pm
Thats what the parkways was eventually gonna be like. Now look at things, tolls have gone up from 25 cents all the way up to 75 from toms river to brick over the years. Anyone remember those parkway coins, heheh...
FOOOfree December 7, 2012 at 01:26 pm
Since all of our taxes will be going up ( including people that do not even use the beach) in order to open the beaches & its clean up, doesn't that mean we are already paying for it?? shouldn't any beach town resident that has been threw enough get a free season pass??? I mean REALLY that's the LEAST the town can do to give back...

Would some of you like a little cheese with your "whine"? Did you really expect anything different in regards to beach fees?
Art December 7, 2012 at 01:28 pm
Personally I'm happy to hear that beach badges are available and our beaches will be open by Memorial Day. From what I understand the $400K that the township collects in beach and parking fees goes entirely to run the beaches and not into the general fund to be blown on things other than what it should be spent on. And I'd rather pay the town I live in then some private land owner in Point Pleasant to use the beach. I'll be getting my badges early this year if it means helping to restore our beaches.

that's asking a lot of the sun

Why is it that every time I read mayor Acropolis' quote, I picture him saying it wearing a grey suit with little white anchors all over it?

The beach badge debate has been brought up yet again, only this time from a state senator or assemblyman that does not represent the Shore. Millions of dollars are spent for "beach Nourishment" through federal $$. 75% paid by the feds, 25% by the state, and of the state portion the towns that receive the "nourishment", their share is 15%. This brings to the fore front the question of how much should the entire country pay to "fix" what maybe 1% of the country's population utilizes? This, while seems lighthearted now, hopefully will spark some much needed debate as to the virtues of spending money on what mother nature will most surely take away when ever she wants. i know many people will disagree with me, but we need to retreat from the coastline, NOT build closer to it or even rebuild what was there. On North Carolina's Outer Banks, when a home or structure is destroyed by a natural disaster, you are not permitted to rebuild there, EVER. This is a common sense approach to not constantly putting money in to save what, again will be taken away.
I know I will get a lot of flak for these comments, but what I say I believe to be true.

Clamdigger, No One owns the beach!
WMS826 December 7, 2012 at 08:41 pm

@brick surfer....thell that to the people who collect money for beach badges. i'm all for beaches being free and open for public access. I've lived in states where beach access is free and it's a great feeling to park and just walk on. the first few times i felt like i was going to be approached by someone looking for their money. free, immaculate and life guards on duty at most locations that's something the people in this state should have the chance of experiencing.
Vito December 8, 2012 at 01:42 am
Beaches should be free in Jersey.
C December 8, 2012 at 01:56 am
I'll wait until the last minute to buy any badges. I want to be optimistic but the realist in me is telling me it may not happen by Memorial Day. If it does, will there be a road to get there that won't take you 2 hours to get there?
shorecorruption December 8, 2012 at 02:48 am
I think i will wait on our's. I would like to know what is hidden in the sand, you know the sand they scraped up off the streets and put on the beach The guards better have a lot of band aids.
Watchman February 24, 2013 at 04:55 pm
Art. Almost true. The revenue from tickets issued at the beach parking lots goes to Brick P.D.This money,or at least part of it ,should go to the beaches. And no one will say how much it is.I bet it's mucho $$$$$

I agree with quiet time. Def consideration of my neighbors if they have a sleeping baby or back yardRead More party. We surely try to respect that.
KC June 19, 2013 at 04:55 pm
Funny Lelenore, I don't see that there are very many rules and regs. If it were elected it would notRead More be an infringement. I respect your opinion, but still feel six day time hours out of an entire week is not a lot to ask. If nothing else, would love to see a ban on gas leaf blowers. There are towns that have that in place. The mowers are not really IMHO that intrusive, but the leaf blowers and concrete cutters are another matter. Trouble is, people herebouts think they are in Montana and often are as you say, on 100 by 100 lots. What is the point of having all of this grass and trees if one never has the serenity about them to enjoy it? I think the ill effects of suburban noise pollution on health - blood pressure, aggression, release of the chemical cortisol etc. are well documented. Over a twenty five year period in time in Brick I find that this has become a real quality of life issue. At one point in my life I resided in mid town Manhattan and ya know what - being high up IT WAS QUIETER! Jackson? I don't think so. Doesn't Brielle have such an elective ordinance?

It was suppose to move next to the next liquor store behind Harbor Freight on Hooper. But,they neverRead More did.And when we pass it,it looks like they aren't even working on that side of the building. We miss that place for their deli dept.

They are waiting for the new store to get dirty and smell. It needs to be run down a little bit forRead More it to function properly.
can't say who June 19, 2013 at 05:44 pm
Right next to the liquor store. The reason it is taking so long is the politics of Acropolis andRead More Pat Botazzi. They kept the liquor store from opening for TWO years by controlling the planning board and caused the store owner HUNDREDS OF THOUSANS OF DOLLARES WITH COURT FIGHTS. Acropolis LOST THE COURT FIGHTS BUT CONTINUES TO BEAT UP ON THE LIQUOR STORE'S NEW TENNANT AS RETROBUTION Now Acropolis can play the code enforcement game and still get his happiness as a bigoted soon to be ex mayor and not a nice man. How about denying this. It is going to be a great store with the same owners and great food IF Acropolis doesn't have them go bankrupt due to him before they even open.
