Safety Netting Coming to Drum Point Sports Complex

With heavy hitters sending balls out of play, Brick Township will install a wall of netting at Drum Point Road.

“In years of late, there’s been lot of power hitters on softball, they’ve been close to hitting the Pop Warner players in the head, so they’ve requested this netting,” Business Administrator Scott Pezarras said.

Two adjacent fields have had some safety concerns, with softball players hitting long range into the football field area.

The netting will be between softball field and practice and turf for football. The Brick Township Council agreed to go out to bid on the work at its Dec. 17 meeting.

I've never ever seen anyone hitting a softball even close to those fields

How about the fields on lanes mill. Other towns seem to have much nicer ball fields

Will we lose garbage pick up to pay for the nets? Or just increase taxes again?

Nerney: don't you have money in your treasury? Buy your own Nets!
