Dragons, Mustangs Will Be Represented in All-Star Game

Dragons and Mustangs each sending players to Shore Conference All-Star game.

Both the Brick Dragons and Brick Memorial Mustangs will be represented in the Shore Conference All-Star game, played by seniors, at Gold Coast Arena On Sunday, Mar. 20 at 5 p.m.

Senior forward Matt Gumina highlights the list for the Dragons, along with captain and defensemen Patrick Kearns. Brick's star goaltender, Eddie Rafferty, was listed as the second goalie behind Chris Marsillo of Middletown South.

Kearns was also named the Shore 'A' Most Valuable Player.

The trio of seniors have been the leaders for a Brick team that defied all odds, winning 18 straight games and reaching the state semi-finals before falling to Middletown South 5-3 at Codey Arena in West Orange last week.

The Mustangs will be represented by their defensemen and captain, Jayson Franceschini. Franceschini led the Brick Memorial squad all season, providing offense while being noted as one of the better defensive players in the conference.

 Brick Memorial finished 2010-2011 with a record of 10-11-4 and reached the second round of the Public 'A' state playoffs before falling to Ridge.
