Brick Township High School head hockey coach Bob Auriemma is now New Jersey's winningest coach on the ice, and the nation's second most-winningest coach.

The 8-2 win against St. John Vianney at the Jersey Shore Arena in Wall was Auriemma's 700th win since starting as coach in 1964 after coming to Brick Township High School in 1962.

The 700th victory is just the latest milestone for Auriemma, who has guided the Dragons to numerous championships during his tenure. In 2010, he was inducted into the New Jersey High School Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, according to a profile on NHL.com.

Good guy, had him as a teacher, one of the few good teachers in brick high. Unfortunately nearly every kid out of that hockey program ends up being white trash. I'm not exaggerating either.

Brickresident-sorry if the truth hurts- But the sneaky attempt by Acropolis to purchase the Ocean Ice Palace as a community center was one of the more bone headed decisions he made. It is one of the reasons he is no longer Mayor. This was no slur to Auriemma who is a decent man. More than i can say about his son in law Steve.

Troll Saint, that is not true. Ive played for him, and played with many guys and woman who have played for him. With the exception of a few, are all fine and went to great school and got great jobs. Andy Pat, I did not know that. Sorry. IF that did happen, At least the rink would be in good hands. They are good people, even if you dont think Mr. Acropolis ran the town right.

@Brickresident. I'm saying when i went there, they were scum and many of the kids turned out to be drug addict deadbeats with criminal records. I'm being objective, you are not, which is understandable. As for Mr. Auriemma, i said he was a nice man and good teacher. My gripe with him though is that he recruited players from other towns for the majority of his coaching career. That's a fact and there's proof of it. Considering its a public school, its illegal. When they finally got caught recruiting in the early 2000's the program took a hit. Brick hockey was a cancer and families wisely avoided it. That being said most of these wins should be contested.

I only know of one person who is pretty much a deadbeat that came out of that hockey program. Hes been on patch a few times. anyways, Yes, he did alot of recruiting. I was actually one of them to be asked to come over, but i opted not too, good thing bc it was the same year crap hit the fan. Illegal sure, but it sure is pretty sweet to play with a bunch of guys who know and play the game so well. I graduated in 01, those 4 years were some of the best playing with guys from Brick HS. I only got to play with those guys for Brick hockey club. I just cant see it being 100% true that alot of hockey players came out of that school as deadbeats. BUt I didnt go there, would have been nice. I do understand where you coming from. Where i went catholic schools recuited. So that isnt much better then what they did.
