Did New Jersey Deserve A Near Failing Grade in Small Business Friendliness?

New Jersey received a near failing grade in small business friendliness, according to a survey by Thumbtack. 

New Jersey received a D and was one of the lowest ranked states in the country. California, Rhode Island and Illinois received failing grades, while Connecticut also received a D grade. 

The survey looked at several issues, including: 

  • Business-friendly licensing regulations
  • Ease of filing taxes
  • Tax rates
  • Government-sponsored training programs
Utah, Idaho, Texas, Virginia and Louisiana received the highest rating for small business friendliness.
