After enrolling in an informative class titled “How to Submit Your Artwork to Galleries” at The Collective Art Tank in Asbury Park, Brick resident Colin Seitz applied his newly learned skills to submit one of his photographs to “The Art of Travel Photography,” an exhibit curated by acclaimed National Geographic senior photo editor Kurt Mutchler.
Hosted by the PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont and to be on display from June 2 through July 3, the exhibit will showcase Mutchler’s top 40 picks of more than 900 travel-themed photographs submitted. Seitz’s image was one of 35 images that Mutchler selected for display in the exhibit’s Online Annex.
“The class at The Collective Art Tank not only shared valuable information that enabled me to properly submit my photo for consideration to the “The Art of Travel Photography,” but also offered an excellent networking opportunity. I learned what to look for in a gallery, the importance of examining its prior exhibits, and how to discover what type of artwork a gallery prefers.

After instructor John Vigg learned more about me, he recommended that I submit my work to the “The Art of Travel Photography” exhibit. I couldn’t be more pleased that I did,” commented Seitz.

In addition to “How to Submit Your Work to Galleries,” Seitz also enrolled in “How to Write an Artist Statement” at The Collective Art Tank. He adds, “Although I have only taken two classes at The Collective Art Tank in the past two months, I have received an invaluable amount of information. I can now communicate what distinguishes my art and discuss my artistic process. I finally have a clear, concise artist statement.”
