Midstreams School to Practice Evacuation Drill Thursday

Students will be relocated to a mock reunification site

Brick police, firefighters and emergency responders will take part in a drill that will include a full evacuation of Midstreams Elementary School on Thursday.

The drill will "test the ability of staff and students" to perform several emergency functions, a letter from Lorraine Morgan, the district's academic officer, to parents said. Tested will be knowledge of how to conduct an evacuation, transporting students to a relocation and reunification site, operation of the reunification site and activation and operation of the district's emergency operations.

The reunification site for Midstreams is St. Dominic School on Old Squan Road, which is located 1.6 miles away.

The drill, which will begin at 9:30 a.m., will include moving students to St. Dominic. Members of the district's administration will be on hand at both locations, Morgan said in the letter, and students should be back at Midstreams by 12:30 p.m.

Parents with questions are asked to contact Midstreams principal John Billen at 732-785-3000, ext. 7000.
