Forum to Seek Comments on Brick's Next Schools Super

Public meeting planned for April 2

The Board of Education has scheduled a public forum during which the public will have a chance to speak out on what they are looking for in the next leader of the township's school district.

The Board of Education is on schedule to select a new schools chief in June.

The meeting, set for Wednesday, April 4, will help give the Board of Education and West Hudson Associates – a private search firm assisting the board in finding a new superintendent – an idea of what types of qualities the community would like to see in a new chief schools administrator.

"An important component of the superintendent search is gathering an understanding from the school staff and community on what they are looking for in the next superintendent of schools," district spokeswoman Dina Silvestri said in a media release on the meeting this week.

West Hudson will be hosting a series of forums on April 4, with the community forum set for 7 p.m. at the auditorium.

In the mean time, members of the community are being asked to fill out a survey posted on the district's website about the superintendent search, district issues, and what type of candidate would be best for the job.

That survey is open through April 2.

Last June, the board decided against renewing the contract of current Superintendent Walter Hrycenko. Hrycenko will revert back to his tenured position of assistant superintendent after the current school year ends.
