Brick Student Wins Burn Awareness Poster Contest

From Saint Barnabas Medical Center:

Recently, Alexis Milak, a 9-year-old from Brick, was named the third-place winner of the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation’s 25th Annual Burn Awareness Poster Contest.  Pictured holding the winning artwork at the awards program are Alexis and Michael A. Marano, MD, Medical Director of The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.  She received a $50 gift card.

The contest is sponsored by Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation and the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) project. ACBC is an aluminum can recycling program involving the voluntary efforts of more than 30 New Jersey fire departments, corporations and organizations.

Money raised through the ACBC Program is used to purchase items and services that are essential to the recovery of pediatric burn patients at The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. These items, which are not covered by insurance, might include special protective clothing that helps minimize scarring or bicycles that help youngsters exercise injured arms and legs.
