Brick BOE Votes to Appoint New Member

Walter F. Campbell will be sworn in Thursday, BOE president says

Walter F. Campbell will represent Brick residents on the Board of Education, it was decided Monday night.

Campbell, one of five residents who applied to replace – who announced his prior to its June 8 meeting – on the school board, was chosen in a 4-1 vote after all of the were interviewed at a meeting at Brick Township High School. John Barton, Michael Conti, David Fischer and Konstantine Goulas were the other four applicants who were interviewed.

Board members Sharon Kight, John Talty, Larry Reid and Susan Suter all voted in favor of appointing Campbell to the board. Board member Kim Terebush cast the only 'no' vote on the appointment. Len Cuppari, another board member, was not present at the meeting.

"They [the candidates] were all interesting people with good qualities in their own rights, however, Mr. Campbell had the most experience compared to the others and I think he will be a great asset to the Brick Board of Education," Kight told Brick Patch after the meeting.

Campbell is expected to be sworn in at Thursday's regular board meeting, set for 7 p.m. at Brick Township High School. He'll join the board immediately after being sworn in.
