Brick BOE Members Sworn In

Three new faces on the board; Sharon Cantillo remains board president

Three new Board of Education members, plus one returning board member, were sworn in to their positions Thursday night.

Michael Conti, Karyn Cusanelli and Frank Pannucci, Jr. all took the oath of office – and their seats at the dais for their first meeting.

Susan Suter was sworn in for her first full term on the board.

The meeting also marked the end of the terms of Kim V. Terebush, Leonard Cuppari and Walter F. Campbell on the board.

"It's a role I take incredibly serious," said Conti, after being sworn in, adding that he would work to "make the district the best it can possibly be."

"I'm hoping that I can be a part of continuing the great things the current board has been able to accomplish," said Cusanelli.

Cusanelli said she hopes her involvement can help spur more parents to become involved with the board and the school system.

For Pannucci, beginning his term on the board was extra meaningful.

"I can't tell you how much it means to actually sit up here on this board," said Pannucci. "My father sat here for 20 years."

"Being a product of this district, I have a lot of great memories of this district, and I want to make sure your children have those same great memories and those same great teachers I had," he said.

The board unanimously elected Sharon Cantillo to continue on as board president, and John Talty to continue as board vice president.

"It's an honor to run these meetings and to represent the Board of Education as president," said Cantillo. "I am humbled."

The short meeting included a number of minor administrative votes required once each year before concluding.

The next full board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at Brick Township High School.
