What Will Brick Tax Bills Look Like in 2012?

County tax hike the only item that will raise tax bills

Neither of the entities in Brick that could be responsible for hiking taxes will do so this year.

With the news that the township council will for 2012, coupled with a Board of Education budget which also , Brick homeowners won't see a significant tax increase this year.

The only increase will come from the county, which .0184 cents to 29 cents per $100 in assessed real property value in its 2012 spending plan.

That means a Brick resident whose home is valued at $330,000, the township average, will pay $6,168 in property taxes when municipal, school district, county and library taxes are all factored in.

  • Find out your home's assessed value, then divide by 100.
  • Take that number and separately multiply it by 0.9108 for school tax, 0.636 for municipal tax, 0.29 for county tax and .033 for library tax.
  • Add those four numbers together for your property tax bill.
  • Keep in mind that there is also a fire district tax in Brick which adds, on average, a tax of 3 to 5 cents per $100 in real property value onto the calculated bill. This tax rate varies depending on the part of town in which you reside.

At $6,168, Brick residents will pay about $1,000 less on property taxes than the average New Jersey resident.

According to an analysis of 2011 property tax records by The Newark Star-Ledger, Garden State residents paid, on average, $7,758 in property taxes last year.
