Thiele Road Construction Begins

Roadway will be milled, paved

An improvement project has begun on Thiele Road.

Construction began on the roadway, which provides access to a number of neighborhoods in the township's Herbertsville section, on Monday. Some sewer plates and driveway aprons were replaced on Monday, and on Tuesday, work continued with manhole covers being lifted and replaced.

Ultimately, the project will include the paving of the roadway โ€“ a notorious trouble spot in snow storms โ€“ as well as the replacement of drainage inlet curb pieces and grates, resetting of manhole casting and valve boxes to grade, replacement of traffic loop detectors at the Herbertsville Road intersection, installation of traffic striping and markings, replacement of traffic signs and driveway restoration.

So far, traffic in both directions on the road have shifted to one lane as construction has started.

The project was funded in the 2010 capital budget. Earle Asphalt is the contractor performing the work.
