Restructuring Vote Postponed by Council

Council will take issue up after the new year

A vote to determine whether to adopt an ordinance eliminating a number of unfilled positions in township government was taken off the agenda of Tuesday night's council meeting.

Council members unanimously favored a motion offered up by Councilman Jim Fozman to remove the item from the agenda.

Fozman said that because of the effects of Superstorm Sandy still taking up much of the council's time, the matter should be put off until after the new year.

The plan, proposed by Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis, is a scaled-back version of a larger restructuring ordinance favored by a number of council members that would have eliminated several positions – including some that were filled – and create three new ones.

That plan passed muster with the township council, but was vetoed by Acropolis, and an override vote failed.
