Parking Protocol Changes at Brick Beach This Season

Stickers, not placards, are in style this year

The party is over for Brick residents who want to bend the parking rules at township beaches this summer. The township's policy for the 2011 summer beach season is that window stickers will replace dashboard placards as proof that a beachgoer has paid for the right to park in a township lot.

“These rules have been implemented to help our police officers better monitor our parking lots and to ensure that all vehicles have paid for parking,” said Dave Francese, Director of Parks and Recreation. “It is unfair to taxpayers when people try to circumvent the rules and not pay for parking or share placards.”

Season beach parking stickers cost $30 for up to two per household. Any additional stickers are $30 each. A valid vehicle registration must be produced for each vehicle registered, township officials said Thursday in a statement.  No other forms of registration, such as photocopy or fax messages, will be accepted.

The good news, for some: senior citizens - anyone who will be 65 by Sept. 1 - may obtain season parking passes for $15 for up to two per household.

For those heading to the beach this summer, stickers must be affixed to the outside of the rear window of the vehicle.  The same rules about registration apply.
