Officials To Hold Meeting On Parkway Project in Brick

Dec. 14 meeting will cover proposed project to reconstruct lanes, shoulders

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority will hold a Public Information Center on Dec. 14 in Brick to take comments and answer questions about its plan to restore and improve the shoulders on the Garden State Parkway between mileposts 83 and 100.  The project is currently in final design with construction expected to begin in 2012.

The event, which is open to the public, will run from 4:30 to 7:00p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Brick Township Municipal Building, 401 Chambers Bridge Rd. The project team will be on hand to answer questions about the plan and listen to comments or concerns.

The project would reconstruct the Parkway to provide 12-foot-wide right and left shoulders and 12-foot-wide travel lanes in both directions over a section of the road that that runs through Toms River, Lakewood and Brick townships in Ocean County and Wall Township in Monmouth County. According to Turnpike Authority officials, the project would increase sight distances, bring the roadway up to current standards, provide room for disabled vehicles to pull safely out of the travel lanes and improve access to emergencies for police, fire, ambulance and other first responders.
