Polls Open in Brick

Voters have until 8 p.m. to cast their votes

Polls are open in Brick, in a municipal election that could change the face of government in the township.

Four Democrats are challenging four incumbent Republicans for seats on the township council. In order to nab the majority from the GOP, the Democratic candidates will need to win all four open seats.

In what became a sometimes nasty campaign by its end, Democrats of cronyism and "no bid" contracts against incumbent Republicans, and the GOP and backgrounds of their challengers.

Voters in Brick's 57 voting districts will hit the polls today between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Generally, the outcome of the election is known within an hour or so after the polls close. To find your polling place, consult the sample ballot mailed to your home by the Ocean County Clerk's office or check out this PDF file from the clerk's website.
