County to Offer Shredding Services

Various dates have been set for late September

Ocean County’s government is firing up the shredders again, offering residents 10 dates in late September and early October to get their secrets ground into indecipherable pieces.

They can bring up to six boxes of papers to the shredders at one time. There is no need to get rid of the paper clips or staples, according to Freeholder James F. Lacey. He said the shredders have an automatic feed and dump system that eliminates any human contact with the papers before they are ground into bits so the paper can be recycled without revealing any secrets.

The sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following schedule:

  • Sept. 22, Point Pleasant Beach recycling center, Cooks Road.
  • Sept. 24, Brick recycling center, Ridge Road.
  • Sept. 29, Berkeley recycling center,  Pinewald-Keswick Road.
  • Oct. 1, Toms River recycling center, Church Road.
  • Oct. 8, Ocean County Southern Recycling Center, Haywood Road, Manahawkin.
