Ciesla Bids Farewell to Constituents

Retiring state Senator says he'll miss the job

To The Editor:

January 9, 2012 marks the conclusion of my two decades of service as Senator of the 10th Legislative District.  And while I look forward to returning to life as a private citizen, I would be less than forthright if I did not admit that I will miss the duties, responsibilities and relationships that come with the honor of being able to represent nearly a quarter million of my fellow citizens in the NJ Legislature.

As I reflect on my public sector term, I am particularly proud of the constituent service that our office has been able to provide.  In looking at our files, we have individually assisted nearly 100,000 residents over the twenty years.

I am equally proud of my legislative role as Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.   I know the 10th district has been the beneficiary of many much needed  transportation infrastructure improvement projects, open space and park funding grants, recreational and pedestrian trails, and other quality of  life measures.

Perhaps my greatest satisfaction is my knowledge that I have strived to serve our citizens with dignity, integrity and passion at all times.  I insisted that my office of Senator be one of a statesman first, and politician second.

I humbly express my thanks to everyone for all the input, contributions and support over all these years.

Happy New Year and Best Always,
Andrew R. Ciesla
