Brick Lights Town Christmas Tree

Kids squealed as the lights went on and Santa was announced to be just around the corner.

The "surprise" was rained out, but that didn't stop the community from staying in Tuesday night. The courtroom was so crowded, families waited in the halls to hear the Brick Township High School choir serenade and the announcement that the Christmas tree was to be lit.

As the holiday spirit spilled out the courtroom, so did the families and friends that came out to see Mayor Steve Acropolis and some volunteers from the audience press the red and white striped button that lit the evergreen tree on the municipal court's front lawn.

After the tree lighting, more holiday singing, and flashes burned into the cornea from photographers' flashes, people headed back inside for photos with Santa Claus.

Santa stayed warm and dry in the court room as he had a long trip from the North Pole and the kids as well as some adults waited eagerly to tell the jolly saint their Christmas wishes.
