Capital Budget to Fund Drainage, Paving Projects

New press box for Brick Little League in budget as well

In addition to funding a and repairs needed at the township's , the 2012 capital budget will provide for a number of improvement projects around town.

The budget, which will be considered on second reading at the June 12 council meeting, sets aside $2,216,000 for various road projects, including paving and drainage improvements.

Areas slated for improvements include Hendrickson Avenue, Lakewood Gardens, Bay Harbor Estates and Riviera Estates.

"The potential costs of ignoring problems far outweighs the cost of repairing them," said Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis, adding that the projects are "essential for the community."

In addition to the road projects, the capital budget includes $300,000 for the design of the Colorado Park improvement project, $652,000 for the replacement of Bayside Park bulkheading, $60,000 for the construction of a press box for Brick Little League and $85,000 for replacement of the boiler at the township municipal complex.

The council introduced the capital budget, which totals $8,798,100, last week.

Scott Pezarras, Being you have resurfaced here maybe you could answer a very simple, direct question. I watch you at council meetings and you seem to be on top of everything. Exactly what does Juan Belu do to earn $150K per year? I do not need much detail. Take today for instance. What time did he arrive at work? If not at town hall, then where? He received a $50K pay increase this past year so he must be working diligently. Please answer Scott. I know you are reading this because I'm sure you wanted to see the response to your last statement. If today's agenda for Bellu is unavailable what about tomorrows? What is his schedule for tomorrow? What did he do yesterday? If YOU do not know what Bellu is doing who does? He is YOUR subordinate, correct? I'd appreciate a response.

Colorado park is a mess ..and has been on the charts to get fixed for years and always pushed back..Another problem with this park drug deals go on all week long ..day and night ..with no support from police ..Neighborhood is very concerned ..
J.JONES May 31, 2012 at 07:15 PM
its a fact the north side doesn't get the support as the south side ..fact..why ??? the kids there don't deserve it ??..just wrong ..
tooosoon May 31, 2012 at 07:33 PM
maybe save your money as well as many other PPL that have kids that play, join the Ymca & The town real quick will have the gravy boat stop & maybe do something about getting the fields in better Condition ( OR better yet, Join on another team/town & Give them Your $$) THAT might gets some heads to look & wonder why.
tooosoon May 31, 2012 at 07:43 PM
@ Seen enough SO what where the choices for old Brick? bleachers unsafe, no AC exposed wires & plumbing, single pane windows, leaking roofs NO sinks in the science labs, NO soap or paper products in the bathrooms, doors in the bathroom that dont close, limited hanicap bathrooms, & the list can go on, & I believe BMHS was build in the 80's and has since been updated & remodeled, While the otherside of town I dont think has had a thing dont since it was build in the 60's ? I think there needs to be a balance of nessesities over things we would like, sure its nice to have a LL field, BUt thats what ya get when men in charge of the money.
tooosoon May 31, 2012 at 07:48 PM
On subject, paved roads would be great, I know 2 yrs ago when we had snow storm after snow storm or streets in our neighborhood where never even plowed. In fact a senior Ctz. had a heart attack & the police got stuck in the snow, the Emt's couldnt make it threw, & Ambulance finally got in at that time the man had passes away. iam assumimg the $$ they saved NOT paving our roads, & last yr not having any snow We should all have new streets & maybe even sidewalks...
Next Brick Mayor May 31, 2012 at 08:57 PM
It looks like it may pay to go to the town meetings and voice your opinion's. A press box! The last time i checked this is not the MLB, and I have not seen any of these little league kids on ESPN's top ten plays.
Seen Enough May 31, 2012 at 09:06 PM
too soon you tell me... Bleachers that get used 8-10 times a year or a Heating/AC system that could be used year round or exposed wires & plumbing or single pane windows or leaking roofs or NO sinks in the science labs or NO soap or paper products in the bathrooms or doors in the bathroom that dont close or limited hanicap bathrooms, & the list can go on. If Wolf could get his replacement fired why can't he get all of "his Brick boys" to do a little fund raising for the bleachers and let the BOE deal with the real problems? Be sure to look for the Brick Patch article and photos this fall when they cart out Wolf in the golf cart to see his new bleachers. Photo opportunity for Kight and Talty!
BW May 31, 2012 at 09:10 PM
Seen, I totally 110% agree with you. That money could have been used INSIDE the school for much needed repairs. It is all politics. Wolf runs for BOE gets elected, gets Dowling fired, resigned. That was probably the ONLY transparent thing in this town in a very long time.

Day 152 of the Ducey regime, do you know where the cost savings they ran on are?
think out of the box May 31, 2012 at 09:26 PM
How about they take the kids from the the vo-tech classes that are learning " hands on" work to chip in & get the work done in the HS ? Yes they may need some over seeing or some outside contractors, but will saving money on lot of the work, & the kids will have Pride in what they did by helping. Even some kids that instead of punishing them by letting them stay home,( what kind of punishment is it to these kids to be suspended & stay home, chances are the pararent are at work & the kids can do what ever they want all day, including getting into more trouble) How bout' putting them to work alittle.. a litle elbow grease never killed amyone, in fact MIGHT even teach them something
it should be fun May 31, 2012 at 09:42 PM
LOL, I cant say for baseball I have a son that plays football, however the coaches & parents all think they will be someday
Anthony June 01, 2012 at 12:10 AM
Because in this country, think, we have what's called child labor laws.
J.JONES June 01, 2012 at 01:49 AM

Denny, It's funny how Scott never has an answer for you - maybe he isn't at Town Hall either - he may be at one of his many other employment positions.
brickNJmom3 June 01, 2012 at 01:02 PM
@ Anthony is not " child labor" its called work, The Children are learning these skills anyway at the vo-tech school why not put them to use. & agree, Get some of those kids that like to suspended So that they can stay home all day & do nothing, Give them something to do, There is nothing worng with putting them on a "project" or community service. It will keep them out of trouble & MIGHT learn a skill instead of worring about pasting Standardize test & come out of HS with no skills or common sense... I think Great Idea !
Art Sholty June 01, 2012 at 01:06 PM
I have been sassed, ridiculed and called names that were not too polite but now I can see that some of you seem to be listening to what I have been trying to say You will never be content so therefore I again repeat***************we need more EAGLES, yes Eagles that can forsee into the future and add good basic knowledge for the good of all Brick citizens. We have one there but you can't see past the nose on your faces. The state of Wisconsin is a good example and Brick has a good leader and Ducey is not the person. Are you ashamed on how you voted now?
DennyD June 01, 2012 at 02:12 PM
Scott Pezarras, You have not yet responded to the simple question, "What does Juan Bellu do to earn a $150K salary? So far I have received only one answer to this question and it was rather vague. Scott, step up to the plate and answer the question.

Vera Fozman June 01, 2012 at 03:10 PM
The "Eagle" has landed.
Mrgrumpass June 01, 2012 at 03:11 PM
You all don’t get it, most of the old council feed us a line a BS, and you voted them out, now the new council is using the same shovels to feed us more BS! The New Bees LIED to get into office and you voted for them, we have We have Councilman Brando the on disability from some PD dept. up north, failed dock builder failed gym owner, appointed to a BS job at the MUA and was nearly fired for not being on the job during his appointed hours (he would check in and disappear) great rep of the people! Dan Toth the political prostitute he will do anything to be re-elected (might even run for mayor) he has the boy next door look but he is just another conniving politician. If you watch council meetings I would think he has reasons for not voting or abstaining on votes I would thing about 40% of the time so why do we need him? And the New Bees promised us a TAX CUT and all they do is Spend, Spend, and Spend! Has there been a salary freeze, hiring freeze, costly project freeze (other than for public safety), have they gone to the unions (all the unions) to renegotiate their contracts NO on all counts! It’s getting close to start recall petition time!
Mrgrumpass June 01, 2012 at 03:24 PM
And as for the PD firing range close it is just a connivance for our $90+G’s officers most other small towns don’t have a range, I am sure that the PD would have access to the military range at Sea Girt, we pay you enough DRIVE!
10% Tax Cut NOW June 01, 2012 at 04:16 PM
Why is the Administration spending so much money on a firing ranch ? Did you forget about Shared Services ? Once again the regard to the taxpayer.

BW June 02, 2012 at 12:54 AM
Sangiovanni is also have his wages from the Boe garnished for 12k in back NJ taxes.
DennyD June 03, 2012 at 06:19 PM
Mrgrumpass, Maybe you can answer this question. What exactly is Juan Bellu's job? What does he do to earn his $150K salary?
Mrgrumpass June 04, 2012 at 02:30 PM
Danny D what makes you think I know what JB’s function in BT is? You people keep riding this lame horse JB,JB,JB this political appointee should be gone but that will only happen when we have a new mayor so why not drop it besides his salary might not even cover the municipal electric bill for one day!
