Brick to Introduce Municipal Budget This Week

Brick Township will introduce its 2014 municipal operating budget at a township council meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

An agenda for the meeting posted on the township's website lists the budget introduction as being up for a vote but does not include a copy of the budget documentation up for adoption.

The township has been operating under a series of continuing budget resolutions that have temporarily maintained last year's spending practices so far in 2014. Normally, municipal budgets in New Jersey are adopted in the spring.

Last year, the township's $98,454,540 budget – which included a $7.5 million emergency appropriation in the wake of Superstorm Sandy – was supported by a $64,918,893 tax levy.

The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the township municipal complex on Chambers Bridge Road.
