Brick to Introduce Municipal Budget This Week

Brick Township will introduce its 2014 municipal operating budget at a township council meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

An agenda for the meeting posted on the township's website lists the budget introduction as being up for a vote but does not include a copy of the budget documentation up for adoption.

The township has been operating under a series of continuing budget resolutions that have temporarily maintained last year's spending practices so far in 2014. Normally, municipal budgets in New Jersey are adopted in the spring.

Last year, the township's $98,454,540 budget – which included a $7.5 million emergency appropriation in the wake of Superstorm Sandy – was supported by a $64,918,893 tax levy.

The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the township municipal complex on Chambers Bridge Road.

Just Think if the town got out of the Real Estate business and sold off the properties they own what that extra $$ could do to our budget ..
Mr. Epping April 01, 2014 at 04:13 PM
a zero increase is fiscally irresponsible, especially after the loss of rateables due to sandy, loss of red light camera revenue, the cost associated with the winter storms, the reliance on one shot revenues, and the normal increases associated with running the township, health care, contractual salary increases, etc. property taxes are the only reoccurring source of revenue any town has and to balance the budget the town may have to use its surplus, which if used incorrectly, can create deficits in future year budgets. modest 2 cent increases are needed until the state comes up with a plan on how to fund public schools, where most of our tax dollars go to. I hope our mayor and council listen to their professionals and do the fiscally right thing, not the publically get me re-elected thing

I'm beginning to think I'd like to see Chief Wahoo in public office on the dart board. While I don't think there's any difference between republicants and democraps I do give these souls credit for being targets of us who like to throw stones
