Brick Township officials began preparations for the potential impact of Hurricane Sandy on Friday, and will continue holding meetings over the weekend.
Business Administrator Scott Pezarras said crews would build a protective berm at township beaches, send robocalls to residents updating them on the storm situation and set up a call center for residents who have questions or concerns.
Additionally, said Pezarras, dump trucks filled with sand will be staged in flood-prone areas and equipment and manpower will be staged at four locations across town in firehouses and EMT buildings.
Finally, a centralized command point will be set up to handle storm response operations.
Township officials will meet again on Sunday to go over the latest information from state and county agencies.
Though forecast models cannot decide where, exactly, Sandy will make landfall, they agree on a sharp turn to the west sometime on Monday.
