Brick Library to Close, Relocate for 3 Months

Temporary branch will serve Brick patrons for three months

The Ocean County Library System will open a temporary Brick library branch during a $1.2 million interior renovation project at the Chambers Bridge Road library building.

The library will close May 15 and is expected to be closed until late August.

During that time the Brick branch will open a temporary storefront location at the Town Hall Shoppes located at 990 Cedar Bridge Avenue. The temporary location will circulate popular and current materials, and offer internet access, library officials announced Thursday.

"The Brick branch is one of our busiest branches and we are happy that the Ocean County Library will be offering most services at another facility during the temporary closure of the Brick Branch for much needed renovation due to the high volume of visitors it receives,” said Freeholder Joseph H. Vicari in a prepared statement.

During the period the library is closed, the book drops located at the regular location will remain available to return materials, library officials said.

As part of the renovation, the branch will have an additional meeting room and study space, children's story corner, a teen area, additional computers for patron use, and a conference room that can be converted into a computer lab as needed

The renovation project will also include new carpeting, furniture, energy-efficient lighting and painting.

The county freeholders approved a $1,227,000 contract for the work in March.
