Brick Land Use Dept. to Open One Saturday Per Month

Brick Township's Building, Engineering and Zoning depaertments will be available one Saturday per month throughout the year, Mayor John Ducey announced Friday.

"We understand 8am to 4pm conflicts with many people’s work schedule," said Ducey, in a statement. "These Saturday hours will offer everyone an opportunity to interact with staff from Building, Engineering and Zoning."

The Office will be opened from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the following Saturdays:
  • March 29
  • April 26
  • May 31
  • June 28
  • July 26
  • August 23
  • September 27
  • October 25
  • November 15
  • December 12

Staff will also utilize the expanded hours to attend to the increased demand, and subsequent back-log, which resulted from Superstorm Sandy, the statement said.

Ducey said the additional hours will especially benefit part-time residents who are still repairing and renovating as a result of Sandy.

“More effective and accessible services will help with the continued recovery for our town and lead to increased quality of life for our residents,” said Ducey.

or they can stay open late one day during the week and stagger the shifts, no OT and the public is served. This is not a new program, its been done in the past with mixed results.

How many workers in that department ? split the department so they have staff for that Saturday and then give them Monday off..No OT NEEDED ..

Very good idea, especially for residents who because of their work schedule can't get to town hall during weekday hours.

I doubt the clerks are making billions an hour and the lead guys are all salary so what is the big deal.
Mr. Epping March 30, 2014 at 05:35 PM
it not a big deal, its a budget issue. if the mayor truly wants to look at overtime and its impact on the budget and tax rate, he has to look at all OT, cut the nickels and dimes and the dollars will follow.
