Anglers who fish Barnegat Bay are being advised by the state Department of Environmental Protection against keeping fish they catch in the waterway.
Boaters are being warned against consuming crabs or fish caught between Barnegat Light and Brick due to potential contamination from pathogens – bacteria and viruses, specially, said a DEP spokesman.
Water sampling performed in the area has shown elevated levels of contaminants, likely due to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, which knocked several waste water treatment facilities in the state off-line, resulting in the temporary runoff of effluents into certain waterways.
The warning also includes bay tributaries, including the Toms and Metedeconk rivers, as well as smaller creeks and streams that enter the bay.
Though the area of the bay south of Barnegat Light is not included in the advisory, officials are continuing to monitor pollutant levels, officials said.

Even a canal that is refreshed with fresh sea water every day doent account for what out in the ocean still its a junk yard as the Bays are right now . I think three months from now after the winter and after some serious clean up .Sure go fishing . But right now we need is community helping each other and going fishing isnt the highest priority . For thise who do make a living off our water ways it is and the faster we get this cleaned up the better for them for us and for the fish line .

Bowling is indoors, which would probably be OK, only so long as you look reasonably upset while doing it. You may also eat french fries, pizza, and hotdogs while bowling, but there is to be NO CHEESE SAUCE on the fries. Going to the the park is CLEARLY at your own risk. You risk being mocked or possibly taunted if you go to a park too close to Woofishes or Mangino's places... Golf (at least the way I play it) is not recreational at all, but a personal form of torture, so that should be OK to the Moral Majority here judging you. I would also avoid movie theaters, unless you are watching either a sad, or just plain bad, movie. DO NOT GO SEE "Skyfall". You will enjoy it, and thereby be a bad person. Really, My advice is to help out when you can, how you can, and continue enjoying your life as you see fit.
